A man was tired of his family because he had a very large family, who all lived in the same town and were always dropping by unannounced. His wife was exasperated because she never knew how much food to prepare and was constantly under pressure for her house to be immaculate so that the family wouldn’t think poorly of her.
Finally, after yet another unannounced visit by his family, the wife said to her husband, “You have to do something about this. I can’t live like this anymore. You need to choose between me and your family!”
“Okay, dear,” said the husband. “I’ll take care of it. Give me one week.”
“One week,” she replied. “No more or I’m leaving!”
Over the next week, the wife heard her husband calling his family and inviting them to come by the house. As each family would visit, he would take them into his office and have a quiet discussion with them. Then, they would leave. The wife wondered what was going on, but didn’t ask any questions.
Finally, at the end of the week, the husband said, “Darling, it’s taken care of. You won’t see any of my family here again.”
“We’ll see,” said the wife doubtfully.
Week after week, the wife expected people to show up at the door, but week after week nobody came. Finally, curiosity go the best of her and she asked her husband, “what did you do? How did you get your family to stop dropping by unannounced?”
“It was simple,” he responded. “I simply called all of my relatives with money and asked to borrow some. Then, I took that money and lent it to the other families, who have no money, and now no one will even talk to me!”
